Re. the top image on the Etsy slideshow: I think, almost by definition, nothing with skulls on it can be Steampunk. Even if it does have cogs too.

Hmm.. but the victorians were obsessed with death-imagery, and the skull was a motif used on memento mori and suchlike...

I would welcome debating this with you further :)
